Even though I was born in America, I have always loved going to Patan. Because of my family, feeding the pigeons, and my favorite Jeri place.

Patan or Patan Dubar Square is in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. I have been going there since I was very little. My grandma and grandpa (Ma and Ba) live there. It is big with small stores, and sometimes I go on a morning walk with my grandma because every morning she goes out to pray (puja) to gods that are everywhere (that’s common in Nepal).

In Patan, they’re a lot of things there that are enjoyable. One thing is feeding the pigeons, and you do that by buying a plate of corn. There are usually people there handing out corn for only 20 Rupees ( that's Nepali money, 125 Rupees equal 1 American dollar) and there are always a lot of pigeons.

Also, there's a really good Jeri place at Patan. If you don’t know, Jeri is a food made out of oil, flour, sugar, and baking powder. They have been making Jeri for over 60 years at that very place (passed from dad to son).

History

  • Patan Durbar square was made in the 1600s. It was constructed during the reign of King Siddhi Narsingh Malla and his son Srinivasa Sukriti.

  • Patan Durbar square is a famous visiting place. The square contains ancient places, temples, and shrines noted for their amazing carvings.

  • The biggest earthquake in Nepal happened in Patan Dubar Square in April 2015 and they have been rebuilding the temples.

Now I have told you some things about Patan, Nepal. I hope you will visit there soon, because I love it, and I have been there over 30 times! (I’m 10.) And even if you don’t, I am happy you at least read this. Bye! And watch out for new blogs!
